In my opinion, I believe it’s by earning revenue through a niche website. That can be through a blog or YouTube channel, depending on your interests.
Making income from a website is not too difficult; however, it will take time and effort to see the desired results. In this article, I will go over three relevant methods for earning income from a website. Also, I’ll explain how you can get started on the online route.

Is a website a good way to make money?
I could discuss other ways you can earn money online. But I believe that a website is helpful in earning money in the long term.
Depending on the niche you choose, websites can make between four-five figures a month. In some cases, it’s possible to earn six figures in a single month!
If you think about the long-term, it can be great passive income coming in if done correctly. Let’s review some of those methods to earn through a simple website.
This one is one of the simplest approaches to earning revenue. If your website has existing content published (i.e. articles), it’ll earn revenue when visitors come and click on those ads.
If your website gets a lot of visitors (and they click on those ads), that can be a decent flow of income coming in. Usually, you can make between pennies to a few dollars per ad that’s clicked on. That may not be a lot, but it can add up over time.
Common ad networks to earn revenue
There are many places you can sign up to have ads inserted on your website. Some of them include Google Adsense, Ezoic, and Mediavine.
Google Adsense has been around for nearly two decades, and it’s utilized by a lot of content creators who own niche websites. Their ads may not make as much, but they can add up if a website gets a lot of traffic each day.

Affiliate marketing (i.e. Affiliate offers and reviews)
Affiliate marketing is one of my favorite methods to earn income online. Affiliate marketing involves partnering with companies that offer affiliate programs for their products.
Through your website, email list, or social media accounts, you can share and promote a company’s product. When you share a product, you serve as a middle person between the company and the potential buyer.
Depending on the product or service you promote, you can earn a commission if an individual buys the product. Typically, you will earn between 2 and 75% of the original price.
For example:
- If you promote a product that costs $500, and you earn 30% in commissions, you’ll end up making $150 from that affiliate program.
Making commissions of that magnitude a few times a week (or even every day) is a nice source of income for you. Through a website, you can insert affiliate ads and banners.
Or, you can write individual reviews going in-depth about a product or service. In those reviews, you can insert affiliate links or banners for visitors to check out.
How do beginners make money online?
One of the best ways to get started is by having a website. This website can be a place where you write posts on a niche you have an interest in, and write reviews for related products or services. Writing blogs is not difficult, but it can deliver passive income in the long run.
What do I love about affiliate marketing?
One advantage of affiliate marketing is you don’t need your own product. By that, it’s less work on your part when coming up with a perfect idea to sell.
Also, you don’t have to deal with customer support issues. If something goes wrong with a product, or if a customer requests a refund, you don’t have to deal with those hassles.
All of those concerns are left up to the company to make since it’s their product or service. So if you don’t want those responsibilities right now, affiliate marketing is a great starting point for launching an online business.
Use other platforms to bring visitors to your website
There are many outlets where you can post and share your content (from your own website). Although I’m not a big fan of social media, content creators are still using these platforms to grow their followers.
Once you obtain a good following on social media, these users can come to visit your website regularly. It’s another source to get traffic coming to your website.
The best place for higher reach?
These days, YouTube is the largest video streaming platform in the world. Also, it’s the second largest source of organic reach (behind Google search).
In other words, it’s a great place to find viewers without paying for any advertising.
If you enjoy making videos, utilize YouTube to start your own video channel. Especially if you’re going in the vlogging space (or into video marketing), YouTube is the go-to platform for any type of video content.
Why not ditch a website and use social media only?
Some people think they can earn income through social media only. While that’s possible these days, you’re putting your online business at risk.
The platforms may censor or shut down your accounts as a result of these risks. If you put content that’s controversial or offensive to some people (i.e. political), it’s possible these risks can come up.
You don’t have much control over a social media channel if you don’t own the platform. On the other hand, if you have a website, you have so much more control over your content. As the owner of your website, you can make more decisions on what you put up or not.
I will always recommend prioritizing your website first, as that’s your main source for business growth. Having accounts on social media can be helpful, but they should not be the primary way to earn income online.

There are many directions you can go in the online world. Even so, you need to learn how to do it in the most effective manner.
Sure, you can do it all on your own: Find information online or watch quick videos on YouTube about how to make money.
Or, you can look for an outlet that teaches you the foundations of an online business. Moreover, you can get help anytime when you’re part of an online community.
You can learn new skills while networking with like-minded individuals. Similar to my journey, all of these members are either starting out or running successful businesses online.

Some people would say to diversify your business. You don’t want to put all of your eggs in one basket, especially when it comes to social media.
Relying on social media alone is not the best strategy for growing a business. It’s why I say a website should be your primary focus.
The purpose of using social media is for people to discover your pages. Once they find you on social media, the next step is to get them out of there and visit your website.
At least that’s how I view it, and it can be helpful in growing a business. Similar to investing, you want to diversify (i.e. use social media), but still make your website the primary source for your business.
