Top Features

Block the internet (+ all distracting websites)

The Freedom app allows you to block the internet during times you’ve set up through the app. There is an option to block all websites while working on a computer.

When this happens, and you try going to a website, a pop-up will say “You’re Free,” or “Oops, You Should Be Working Now.” This option reminds you to stay focused on whatever you intended to work on at that moment.

These can range from news sites, and social media feeds, which are useful in grabbing your attention. Whether that’s Facebook or ESPN, the Freedom app will identify those sites as distracting and off-limits.

Especially when you’re at the office (or need to focus), the app can come in handy to stay off these websites. No more mindlessly scrolling through Twitter or getting distracted by social media notifications.

How to use the freedom app: You can use blockers in the app to eliminate distractions.

Block apps (desktop & mobile versions)

The Freedom app will also block apps on your desktop, and mobile apps. If you use your smartphone regularly, mobile apps can be tempting with all the distractions that may come up.

For example, email, games, and social media apps can be time wasters because they’re effective at keeping your attention longer. Many phone users spend so much time utilizing them to the point they could have been using their time spent wisely offline.

Schedule time blocks & advanced scheduling

One of the main features of the Freedom app is scheduling sessions. In other words, you can schedule meetings for a half-hour, an hour, or a quick 20-minute focus period would work.

When the sessions start, the app will block all distracting websites along with the websites you selected beforehand. The time blocks are what define the purpose of the Freedom app. Again, that is to help users earn free time to do things that matter the most.

How to use the freedom app: The app allows you to customize what you want to block on your screen.

On the other hand, the Freedom app allows you to schedule sessions in advance. For instance, if you wanted to block out time several hours from now, you can do that ahead of time.

Additionally, you can create recurring blocks to help make your focus sessions a daily habit. Doing something such as this practice can significantly enhance your productivity.

Is the Freedom app useful?

In my experience, I found the app helpful for tracking my time. I managed to get more work done on some mornings than I usually would on a typical day during my first seven sessions.

The pop-ups took a while, but it was nice to have them appear when I was trying to concentrate. Although I do not consider the app my favorite, I still appreciate the ease and simplicity of setting up time blocks ahead of time.

So it’s worth trying it out to see if it’s the right fit for your work style.

  1. Dear Eric,

I have never heard of the Freedom App before. Is it to be used on WordPress Websites per se or on smartphones?

I am confused on that part though. For many Apps I use on my smartphone, they are usually FREE, glad to hear that there is a Trial Version to use of Freedom App as said by your blog post!

    • Hi Angel,

The Freedom app is a simple-to-use time management tool for personal or professional use.

Regarding your question, it’s not necessarily used through WordPress websites. But yes, it can be downloaded through a desktop, tablet, or smartphone. So it has a few compatible versions.

Take me, for example. I go to their website- then I download it through my laptop and get it all set up. Once I have it set up, then I can make the most out of the app.

Also, I can download the app through my iPhone. It has similar settings as well, and it can help block any distracting websites I shouldn’t be browsing. At this point, I’m making the most out of the app.

It’s helped with my time management, along with staying focused as well.

Yes- you are right to read that there is a trial version if you’re not sure about the app. Even though it may not be free, it doesn’t mean it’s bad or a low-quality product.

If you want to check it out yourself, I encourage you to see how it can help you remain focused. You may end up liking it down the road.

Thank you for your question, along with sharing your thoughts. They’re much appreciated.
