Unlike in the past, I never thought you can make a website that quickly these days. I still think it’s crazy you can get a website set up in less than a minute. So how do I create a free website in 30 seconds?
In that time frame, there are many platforms to create a free website today. My top recommendation on how to go about this is through SiteRubix, a website builder part of Wealthy Affiliate (WA).
SiteRubix is one of the simplest places to get a beautiful website up and running. With the power of WordPress (integrated within the WA platform), your website will be up in no time.
In this post, I will do a basic breakdown of setting up a free website. The steps we’ll go over are part of one of the free lessons taken from the WA core training program.

How to create a website for free
Creating your own website is not rocket science. Anyone can literally do without learning complex skills- it’s much easier than you think.
Even my grandparents (currently in their 90s’) can build a simple website from scratch. They sure aren’t tech wizards, but they can follow through by taking some simple steps.
Remember that a website is the bedrock of any online business. The purpose of it is to turn visitors into potential clients/customers.
Your website can bring traffic, build a long-term brand, and establish authority in your niche. Along with that, you’re able to promote products and earn revenue at the same time.
How do I create a free website in 30 seconds?
You can create a free website from many website builders. But the one I recommend for beginners is WordPress (through the Wealthy Affiliate platform). WordPress is by far one of the best places to get a website up and running in no time.
Here are the four steps to setting up a website from scratch.
Choose the type of website
Within your WA free starter account (FSA), you simply can access the SiteBuilder section. That can be found in the top section under “Websites”.
Some of the steps to move forward include one of two options. The first one to choose is called a “Free domain”, and the other one is “A domain I own”.
For starter members, you can use the “.siterubix.com domain (that is the free version of a website).
If you want to go to the next level, you may want to consider buying a domain name. Having your own domain can lead to better rankings in search engines (i.e. Google) while establishing authority in your niche.
With a WA premium membership, you get up to one free domain when you upgrade. It may help to upgrade if you want a domain that will do well in search engine rankings.
Choose a domain
When you’ve decided on your domain choice, you want to have a name that’s related to your niche.
Keep in mind it does not have to be keyword-based, meaning you don’t need to choose a domain name that’s designed to rank on the first page of Google.
When choosing a domain, here are some simple tips to keep in mind.
Keep it short and super easy to remember
The shorter the domain, the better chances more people will remember it. Based on the selection of domain names available, choose what’s available and go from there.
Do NOT include dashes and hyphens
Domain names look better by combining all the words together. If it’s between two-three words altogether, that should be a good choice to choose from.
Pick a “.com”
A “.com” is my preferred choice for establishing a well-known website. Sure, you can choose other ones such as .org, .net, or .io for your domain. But I believe .com is the most used one, and it’s more recognizable through search engines like Google.
Here’s an example of a domain name I’ve chosen. The niche site I came up with has to do with cameras, so the domain name happens to be camerapsycho.siterubix.com
Can you just make a website for free?
Yes, you certainly can make one for free. However, if you want to see long-term success, you will need to buy a real domain and look into website hosting as well. You want a website that will be indexed in the search engines while being secure from hackers and spam attacks.
Building a website ain’t scary, it’s fun!
Choose a website name
The name should match (or be close to) the domain picked out. Also, you want to make sure it makes grammatical sense.
In the case of the domain I picked, it’s called camerapsycho.siterubix.com, but the title is Camera Psycho. The name sounds a little weird, but it makes sense and is kept short and simple.
Choose a design
The final step in creating a free website is choosing a “look” for your theme. For starter members, you can only access one theme (GeneratePress is the default theme).
GeneratePress happens to be my favorite theme because it’s straightforward to use. It’s one of the best for quality, speed, and overall design.
If you choose to upgrade to a premium membership, you will have access to more than 4000 themes to choose from. So there are a lot of options, but my best tip is to stick with one for now.
The best part is you can always change it later on. In my experience, I’ve tried a dozen of themes before I eventually settled on GeneratePress. So it’s completely up to you to decide.
Features that are part of SiteRubix
SiteRubix is a very good choice for website builders. It’s simple to use in the managed WordPress hosting industry.
The technology is equipped to grow your online business, while also keeping your website secure.
Some of the key features of SiteRubix include:
- SiteManager (access to the starter, premium, and premium plus)
- SiteBuilder (“ “)
There are other features available when upgrading to the premium level or above. One other thing to note is that for premium membership, you can host up to three websites (including your own domains).
Also, keep in mind you can get one free domain when you upgrade to a premium membership.

This is a terrific article Eric on how to create a free website in thirty seconds.
I really appreciate the thorough approach you have taken with the article , and knowing I was getting the most up-to-date information available made reading it much more enjoyable.
Knowing this information would help me in the long run.
If I’m being honest though, it seems a little too good to be true for a person to be able to create a search engine-optimized website AND be able to do that for free!
What is the catch?
It may sound too good to be true. But it’s possible to create an SEO-friendly website by utilizing free tools.
The key takeaway is to think about using “free tools”. Of course, you can’t create a website completely for “free”.
I think that would be misleading to inform my readers. Similar to anything in business, there are costs associated with it.
So for building a website, you will need to invest in a domain name and also web hosting as well.
Depending on which platform you use (such as SiteRubix), you can use a lot of free tools to build a website.
I believe that’s the key difference right there.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and a great question. It’s greatly appreciated.
