The best way to avoid burnout from blogging is by doing fewer things. In other words, stick to one approach for growing your blog.

If that’s writing three blog posts a week, commit to doing that for the next twelve months. If you stick to it long enough, you’ll see great results while feeling less overwhelmed.

# 1 Remember why you started your journey

If you’ve been doing it for a while now, go back to your “why” for going into blogging, or online business in general.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do I want to build an extra source of income besides my primary job?
  • Do I want to earn enough money so that I can quit my 9-5 job?
  • Do I want to have more time during my day?
  • Do I want to be able to travel more often, but still be able to work on my business online?
  • Do I want more flexibility to spend time with my family or loved ones?

I can tell you the primary reason I started my own journey into an online business.

That is, so I can be financially independent and buy more of my time back. I believe time is something I value a lot more these days than money.

# 2 Go back to your first day starting at Wealthy Affiliate

You may have recently signed up at WA. If so, recall the very first day you signed up on this platform.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What were your initial feelings? Were you excited, hopeful, or nervous?
  • What did you originally think about WA back then?

When I think about my first day signing up back in August 2019, I was hopeful thinking I made a wise choice. That is, making the decision to improve myself and invest in learning new skills that will make me more valuable.

I know I’ve had my fair share of milestones. From writing multiple blog posts to my first commission in under two months, and much more, it’s been a worthwhile journey.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What are some new skills you learned along the way?

Reflecting back on the last few years, I’ve gotten better at writing high-quality content, along with mastering search engine optimization.

Currently, I’m making videos for my YouTube channel. It’s a little bit of a learning curve, but I’m learning how to do it properly while getting better at it.

Here’s a great word of advice: Success is cumulative; in other words, what you learn today can pay off not only now, but later on (and sometimes, even forever)!

How do bloggers stay motivated?

It’s one thing to stay motivated as a whole. But bloggers need to have the discipline to keep up with creating helpful, high-quality content on a consistent basis. If they’re disciplined enough to keep going, they’ll continue to see remarkable results for the time and effort they put in day in and day out.

Suffering from blogger burnout is not uncommon. Too many bloggers can go down that route, but they don’t have to be.

By not doing so many things, you’ll be less overwhelmed. Also, you’re likely going to take action on what matters the most.

So my point is this: Focus on committing to doing only one thing and stick to it for some time (i.e. one year).

  1. Blogger Burnout is a real thing! I love to write and sometimes find myself staying up too late. Getting up too early puts my health at risk and makes it more difficult to concentrate to produce good content. 

    Looking back at the motivating reasons for starting your blog and limiting yourself to a consistent number of posts per week helps reduce stress and make you feel good about meeting a short-term goal.
